The Elmwood Village Association Design Committee | A key part of Elmwood Village Association's overall mission is to enhance the physical appearance of the Elmwood Village Commercial District by rehabilitatiing historic buildings, encouraging supportive new construction, developing design guidelines, improving and greening the streetscape, and invoking long-term planning aimed at preserving the unique urban character of the area. - Facade Improvement Program - A matching mini-grant program enabling business and property owners to enhance the exterior facades of commercial buildings in keeping with the design guidelines.
- Urban Design Literacy Project: Why Elmwood Works - a presentation demonstrating good urban design and planning principles in an easy to understand format.
- Smart Growth is Smart Business Speaker Series - speaker-led workshops intended to introduce "smart growth" development approaches that have worked in communities across the country. A diverse set of topics ranging from transportation and multi-use construction to community-based planning and strategies for increasing tax bases will be addressed by subject-matter specialists followed by a panel discussion and audience involvement.
